Come chat with us!

This weekend, members of the AUCeltSoc committee and SUFF management committee are meeting in Aberdeen as part of the planning process for SUFF 18/19 – and we’d love for you to join us in the conversation!

On Saturday afternoon, we’re going to walk around the Aberdeen University campus to check out venues and dream of what great folkie events they may host next year. We’re also hoping to take some promo photos (keep your fingers crossed for nice weather!) to use in our announcements over the next few months.

We’d love for Aberdeen students, and anybody interested in SUFF, to join us for a chat as we walk about – come along, share ideas and ask any questions you might have about the Scottish Universities Folk Festival! Please meet us at 3pm in front of Elphinstone Hall on Saturday 21st April, from where we’ll set off.

See you then!

We’re delighted that SUFF 18/19 will take place in Aberdeen on 29-31 March 2019! Aberdeen University Celtic Society will be hosting this year’s festival, and have a tonne of exciting folky events planned for sharing and celebrating Celtic cultures. SUFF 18/19 is all about locally-led events where we can celebrate our shared traditions and be introduced to new ones. We’re anticipating Gaelic songs, historical city tours and traditional arts workshops – as well as the ever-popular knees-up at the SUFF Ceilidh and plenty of tunes at sessions! Keep your eyes on our website, Facebook page or Twitter feed for more info…

SUFF ’18

It’s time to start thinking about next year’s event and we’re hoping that, in partnership with a keen and committed society, the Scottish Universities Folk Festival can be better than ever!

We’re looking for a Scottish university society interested in folk culture that can re-launch SUFF as an event to bring like-minded people together, with inclusivity and accessibility as core values in doing so. The host society will have a real opportunity to put their own ideas into making festival events local and reflective of their group – we’re very eager to hear how your group would shape SUFF to build the student folk community! The host will receive marketing, financial and logistical support from SUFF, meaning that even if you’re new to the idea of hosting an inter-university event there’s plenty of help available.

If you’d like to know more please have a look at the information pack and application form on the SUFF ’18 page; any questions can be sent via email to sufolkfestmc@gmail.com or messaged to the SUFF Facebook page. Applications should be submitted by 1700 on 10 November 2017.

We’re excited to hear from you soon!
