Photographers and Artists – SUFF needs you!

posted in: Uncategorised | 0

With such a full SUFF programme planned, we’re looking for skilled photographers and artists to capture SUFF ’16!

If you’ve a flair for photography, film, drawing (or other artistry!) and would be interested in recording any of our events we would love to have you on board. You’ll be given free access to the event(s) you record, and are welcome to enjoy these and join in as well as capture what’s happening (including the ceilidh – get your dance shoes on!). SUFF hopes to use images taken at the event in publicity both on our facebook page and website, and we’re very happy to promote your own website or page alongside your images.

Unfortunately we cannot pay photographers or artists for capturing the event, but if you fancy a chance to be involved in a fantastic weekend of music and dance while promoting your work to a nation-wide audience, we’d love to hear from you.

If you’re interested in being an official SUFF photographer or artist, please get in touch: sufolkfest@gmail.com.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Call for Accommodation

We can’t wait to welcome everybody to Edinburgh for the second SUFF! To keep festival costs low for everybody, we’ll be operating a programme of indoor camping again this year.

If you’re coming to SUFF from outside Edinburgh, we’ll do our best to accommodate you on an Edinburgh University Folk Society member’s floor. You’ll need to bring a sleeping bag and mat, but they’ll make sure there’s a roof over your head! If you’d like to camp with an EUFolkSoc member, please let SUFF know as soon as possible. If you’re a member of a (non-Edinburgh) university folk society coming to SUFF make sure to tell your President: if you’re travelling to SUFF independently just send us an email to sufolkfest@gmail.com and we’ll add you to the list. The sooner we know the quicker we can start to find you somewhere.

If you live in Edinburgh, we’d be mega grateful if you would please be able to accommodate some SUFF visitors! If you have floor space and a kind heart, please get in touch at sufolkfest@gmail.com to let us know you’d be willing to take some guests.

With just over a month to go, we thought it’s about time to let everyone in on what we have lined up for SUFF this year.

Friday
Evening – Welcome Session. Come join us to say hello and start the weekend off as it means to go on – with tunes till the wee hours! (Free and unticketed!)

Saturday
Morning – Arthur’s Seat Climb/Session. See the city from one of its most spectacular view points! Weather permitting, there’ll be tunes at the top! (Free and unticketed!)
Afternoon – Workshops. Join us for a trio of workshops traversing folk music. Dallahan will be joining us for one of these to take you through your tune paces! (Workshops £3/£3/£5 individually, or come to all three for £10! Tickets on the door.)
(Early) Evening – Dinner. All these tunes need some serious sustenance; and that’s before you’ve danced the night away! (Individuals buy own dinner, ~£10.)
Evening – Ceilidh. Ceilidh with the Edinburgh University Folk Soc Ceilidh Band. Time to Strip some Willow and Dash some White Sergeants. (£8. Tickets on the door.)

Sunday
Morning – Breakfast. All that dancing might leave you feeling in need. Join us in the famous Snax Café for a proper fried revival. (Individuals buy own breakfast, £2-£8.)
(Later) Morning – Farewell Session. A final bout of tunes to send you on your way. Old favourites as well as tunes from Saturday’s workshops! (Free and unticketed!)

We’re getting so excited, and now you know why!
